The Fall recruitment campaign for CSN's Graphic Design Club {CSN AIGA Student Group}
is in progress.

Sabrina Weldy, AIGA Student Group President, said that she "would like to invite you to join our club! By doing so you will have access to student organized workshops, study groups, and meet ups."

"We are a casual club made up of students striving for a GRC Degree. We assist each other with assignments, give each other feedback and promote a positive growth experience here at CSN."

She boldly stated that "our members are more likely to end the school year with higher grades, more enriched with creativity, and possess a higher chance of finding work in the Graphic communication field. All it takes is your participation."
Signing up has no cost. However you are required to join AIGA Las Vegas (the “Parent” Organization of our club) in order to be considered a full member.

What's On Magazine looking for a designer for art project

What's On Magazine is looking to develop a series of maps highlighting local destinations to be used within the pages of it's publication.  The ultimate goal are for these maps to assist Vegas visitors to navigate while in town and for students to be published in a magazine with a 100,000 bi-weekly distribution.
Map currently being used by What's On Magazine. 
The type of maps they are interested in....
  • Strip—from Mandalay Bay to Stratosphere (also showing Town Square and Premium Outlets South).
  • Downtown Maps that would  moving them north to Valley of Fire, and Mesquite and basic direction to Zion. 
  • Maps that would move them west to Springs Preserve, Red Rock, Spring Mt Ranch and Mt. Charleston
  • Maps that would move them in the right direction to Boulder, Laughlin and Grand Canyon
  • Maps that would move them to Los Angeles
The publication, a digest format that fits easy in the hands, purses and pockets, is looking to expand its reach to newsstands in LA and bordering towns in Arizona to Mexico; it has started adding Spanish pages to the publication.

11th Semi-Annual CSN GRC Design Exhibit


The public is invited to view on Monday and Wednesday this week art and design work of students in the Graphic Communications Program at the College of Southern Nevada.

The exhibits for each night commence with Judging— by private invite only—from 6pm - 9pm; it is open to the public beginning at 9pm.

Students from Dan McElhattan's GRC 207 and GRC 294 classes will be exhibiting their work respectively on Monday, Dec. 8 and Wednesday, Dec. 11 at the Holsum Design Center, 241 W. Charleston, Suite 143.

On Monday, students in the GRC 294 (Portfolio Workshop) will be presenting a body of their work in portfolio style.

Twelve students will be showcasing their talents, skills, and custom made leave behinds and portfolios: Danial Adair, Shannon Bingham, Hannah Bolton, Joseph Dousharm, Rodolfo Gomez, Tayler Hensen, Alfi Huerta, Thomas La Plant, Victor Luu, Dora Santiago, Matthew Stevenson, and Angel Ulloa.

On Wednesday, students in the GRC 207 (Electronic Design) will be showing their interpretation of the "Oddity" show theme in poster format.

The 16 students who will be showing their posters are Shannon Bingham, Hannah Bolton, Alan Castellanos, Joseph Dousharm, Kris Dupaya, Zachary Dupaya, Rodolfo Gomez, Daryl John De Guzman, Julius Edward Neal Cunningham, Lizz Ochoa, Kultida Pamornboon, Julianna Russo, Dora Santiago, Avery Scott, Ma Tatsha, and Lue Xu.

The theme "Oddity" addresses "What makes each of us unique and yet connects us all is our rarity. We are at odds when faced with challenges of combining mere thoughts into visual constructs that require elicit response. To engage our creative design skills and oddity into a strategy, a message of cohesiveness and most times a form of transaction."

This semester's show Gallery Exhibition is dedicated to CSN's Media Techchnologies' GRC Program.
